Our Community

Community Guidelines

Her Book Society is built around books, conversation, connection, and mutual respect. These guidelines help protect the welcoming community we are creating together.

The Heart of the Society

Different perspectives are welcome.
Disrespect is not.

01 Respect Everyone

Treat every member with kindness and respect. Different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives are welcome here.

Disagreement is okay. Disrespect is not.
02 Keep Discussions Respectful

Share your opinions openly, listen when others see the story differently, and keep debate focused on the book and ideas—not the person sharing them.

03 No Bullying or Harassment

Bullying, harassment, intimidation, threats, targeted personal attacks, or deliberately making another member feel unsafe or unwelcome will not be tolerated.

04 Respect Member Privacy

Do not share another member’s personal information, private conversations, screenshots, photos, or messages outside of the group without their permission.

05 Group Chat Expectations

The official group chat is intended for book discussions, club announcements, meeting information, sharing book-related thoughts, and connecting with other members.

Please keep the chat welcoming and on purpose: no unwanted solicitation, excessive self-promotion, spam, disruptive behavior, or inappropriate content.

06 Mature Conversations

Some books may contain mature themes, relationships, intimacy, and sexual content. Members are expected to discuss these topics respectfully and appropriately.

07 Participation

Members are encouraged to participate, but no member is required to speak during every discussion or attend every meeting. We understand that life happens. Participate when you are able and remain respectful of the community.

08 Leaving Her Book Society

Members are always welcome to leave Her Book Society if the club is no longer the right fit. Simply notify the club administrator. Your decision to leave will be respected.

09 Member Removal

Her Book Society reserves the right to remove or deactivate a member who violates these guidelines or whose behavior negatively affects the safety, comfort, or experience of the community.

Depending on the circumstances, a violation may result in a warning, temporary restriction, removal from the group chat, deactivation of membership, or immediate removal from the book club. Serious violations may result in immediate removal without a warning.

Our goal is not to police members. Our goal is to protect the positive, respectful environment we are creating together.
